Vagaland beret
T A Robertson was a Shetland poet who wrote under the name of Vagaland. He wrote about everyday Shetland life in dialect in a vivid and insightful way. I was first introduced to his poetry in Primary School and became fascinated with the Trow names - Peesterleetie, Terrie Mittens and Trunsher Face! In Shetland folklore trows are small, nocturnal creatures who live in the hills, coming out at night to cause mischief in the human world. This beret is my tribute to him.

The beret is made using Jamieson’s of Shetland Spindrift. This is a close fitting beret but a slouchier shape can be achieved by increasing the needle size to UK metric 3.5mm after the ribbing.
