You can’t visit the Pacific Northwest without noticing the many and varied evergreen trees there. I chose to pay homage to them with this Lodgepole Pine hat. Then I topped it off with some blue sky, white clouds (or snow if you want!), and a whimsical pom pom.

This pattern is meant for adventurous novice knitters to experienced knitters and all those in-between.

Please read the entire pattern before beginning.

Yarn: 1 skein each Studio Donegal Soft in Charcoal (5211), Irish Grass (5236), and Donegal Sky (5248), 100% Merino, 207 yards (approximately 52, 20, & 42 yards used)
1 skein each Studio Donegal Aran in Snow (1443) and Rocky Paths (4742), 100% wool, 88 yards (approximately 18 & 24 yards used)
Note that the amounts given are for the large hat size. You could also substitue the Soft Grass for Aran Irish Grass (4824)

Needle: US 6 (4.0 mm) Hiya Hiya Circular needles or needles to obtain gauge

Gauge: 4 stitches per inch (spi) and 5.25 rows per inch (rpi) OR 16 stitches & 21 rows to 4 inches/10 cm in stockinette

Size: 18, (19.5, 21) inches around

To alter the size: Adjust your gauge to increase or decrease the circumference of the hat as needed.
