“Shetland Story” has been produced in celebration of Shetland Wool Week. The 8 patterns that make up the collection will be released over the next couple of weeks and they each use Shetland wool of different types.

This hat is designed to be a practice run for my Insight Sweater, using the same pattern stitch and letting you get to grips with shaping in colourwork before you launch into knitting the garment.

This pattern was designed to be as quick and simple a knit as possible, and to be comfortable and wearable all year round, either close-fitting or with plenty of ease. It’s knitted flat in four pieces and then seamed. The sample was easily knitted in a week, making it a perfect last-minute gift or first garment.

There was a certain place name that the rebellious part of my brain wanted to use for this pattern…but in the end I settled for Fblister, which was suggested by my host as it’s one of her favourite place names on the island.

My Dad and Grandma live in Co. Clare on the West coast of Ireland, in a little village called Doonbeg. It’s beautiful over there and I love visiting them, but the wind is something else! I try to travel light when I fly, so this is my scarf, hat and hoodie all in one.
