Knitting: Scarf
As you like it is a very simple knit, just garter stitch with 2 different color yarns ends held together. It has vertical chains the are on both faces of the scarf. The chains are made by dropping stitches after finishing knitting the scarf. You can place the chain(s) any where instead of the center like the sample. You can also make a chain th...
Knitting: Pullover
When I first saw the Einstein tile, (new shape that covers a plane in a Never-Repeating Pattern.) I thought it looked like a sweater (not a hat). So I designed a sweater based on this shape. I broke the shape down to 4 identical modules to make the knitting easier. Because of the fixed shape, the ratio of width and length is fixed. The sample h...
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
This design was commissioned by Fibershed, an organization that supports locally grown fibers. The sample is knitted in Red Creek Farm yarn of Potter Valley, CA. The pattern is designed for both sport and worsted weight yarn. About 110 yards of worsted required at 5 stitches per inch and 170 yards of sport at 7 stitches per inch. The number of ...
Knitting: Pullover
Variegated yarn shows off the directional changes made with short row garter stitch in the body as well as the sleeves. But any yarn with good stitch definition would work. The upper portions of the sweater and sleeves are in reverse stockinet. The back has a slightly higher neck than the front.
Knitting: Scarf
Scarf is identical on both sides. The body has garter bands for texture. The long edges have ribbed cables and the short edges are curved from transition of ribbed edging to garter band body.
Knitting: Cowl
Traveling this season will be a breeze once you knit up this crazy convertible piece! Wear this scarf as an infinity loop or button it closed to wear as a bolero shrug. This piece can carry you through the colder months with its many styles.
Knitting: Pullover
Break out the straight needles for this super traditional sweater that proves you don’t need elaborate innovation to make a statement. Knit entirely flat, strategic marling makes a compelling effect from simple techniques even our fiber ancestors would recognize.
Knitting: Pullover
Tiny daisies lend feminine appeal while an asymmetrical hemline adds a funky twist to this chic top. Shortrows make the slanted bottom.
Knitting: Cowl
Cowl is knitted in the round and the stitch pattern is attractive, although different on both sides, although only one side shows cables. The cable travels diagonally but is only because of the moving knit and purl stitches so it’s easy to follow the pattern. Both chart and text instructions are given.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
The design of these mitts takes advantage of the nature of cables. The thumb opening is an open diamond between 2 cable crossings. The cable crossings are opposite for each mitt just like your hands are mirror images of each other. Turning the mitts inside out shows off an entirely different cable pattern. (See pics)
Knitting: Hats - Other, Cowl
This tubular cowl is knitted in the round with a spiraling cable pattern. An i-cord threaded through eyelets can be cinched and transform the cowl into a hat. A multipurpose accessory to keep either your head or neck warm. Both chart and written directions are given.
Knitting: Scarf
The Butterfly Lace Scarf balances the very open lace of the butterfly stitch with the beautiful halo of mohair to create texture and visual substance. The long floats are made by double yarn overs which are easier and quicker than dropping stitches, especially when working with mohair yarn. Although it may look tricky at first, it’s actually qu...
Knitting: Scarf
A fresh take on the classic leaf edging, the scarf is knitted from the center from a provisional cast-on toward the ends. The leaf edging is mirrored for both edges and tapered down to a point at the ends. Skills needed: increases, decreases, yarn overs, and picking up stitches from provisional cast on. Instructions include both text and charts.
Knitting: Pullover
Slashes are made to match self slashed jeans. The fit is easy, simple rectangle body and square sleeves. Each knitter can customize their sweater with their own choice of slashes.
Knitting: Cardigan
The shrug is made in two pieces. The shoulder/ sleeves part is worked from a provisional cast-on from center back to cuff and then cast-on picked up for other half. This gives flexibility for a perfect fit in the back width and sleeve length. The body is a rectangle. Optional short rows at back armpit gives a smoother fit.
Knitting: Pullover
The sweater is available in finished bust sizes 32-48”. The simple cable front presents a twist, a glimpse of skin inside the top diamond, intriguing yet quite modest. Except for the cable the sweater is knitted in reverse stockinet. There is no separate neckband, the ribbing is integrated into the body of the sweater. The cable pattern is pres...
Knitting: Sleeveless Top
The yarn required varies between 6-8 skeins. The top starts as icords which grows into cables on the front. The icords are braided to match the cable pattern for the straps which then is knitted into the back. The pattern is updated to include both chart and text instructions.
