Each hexagon blooms with softly layered petals, creating a beautifully textured design that’s as comforting as your favorite hot beverage on a crisp fall morning. Worked in bulky yarn, this quick and cozy project brings together color, texture, and charm in every stitch.

With detailed step-by-step instructions and helpful photo and video tutorials, you’ll have all the guidance you need to create a truly one-of-a-kind blanket — perfect for gifting, decorating, or simply cozying up at home. For those who love to personalize their makes, the pattern also includes tips for adjusting size and color, plus a handy coloring sheet to plan your design.

How This Blanket Is Made
This charming blanket is made with hexagon motifs. Each motif begins with a large center ring, into which you’ll create petals using a mix of single crochet, chains, and treble crochet stitches. Then, switching to a contrasting background color, you’ll work chains and slip stitches behind each petal, forming the base for a classic granny stitch hexagon. Motifs are joined in the final round using a join-as-you-go (JAYGO) technique.

Pattern is written in US crochet terms.

Suggested Yarn Substitutes
Sample was made with bulky-weight acrylic, but feel free to substitute the bulky-weight yarn of your choice. Wool and cotton would also be good options. Lighter or heavier weight yarns may also be used. A different weight yarn may require a different size hook, as well as more or less yarn than noted. Working with a thinner or thicker yarn may result in different gauge measurements, which will affect the Finished Measurements.

Additional Tools and Materials

Gauge
Though exact gauge is not essential, for best appearance it should be close.
I used a K/10.5/6.50mm crochet hook. Select the hook size that gives the best appearance for your choice of yarn and your tension.
A significantly different gauge may require more or less yarn than listed.
