If you’ve never visited Oregon, and central Oregon in particular, then you may not be aware of the three small mountains near Bend known as the Three Sisters. I’ve had occasion to visit this lovely area many times and I’m always captured by the mountains there. This cowl is meant to remind me of that area with the delicate edging that reminds me of the few rivers in the area, three bands of diamonds for the mountains, and the garter-stitch scrubland.

This pattern is meant for adventurous novice knitters to experienced knitters and all those in-between.

Yarn: 1 Sock Blank from Briar Rose Fibers, 75% Merino, 25% Nylon, 463 yards

Needle: US 4 (3.5 mm) Hiya Hiya Steel Interchangeable needles or needles to obtain gauge

Gauge: 6.6 stitches per inch (spi) and 9 rows per inch (rpi) OR 27 stitches & 36 rows to 4 inches/10 cm in stockinette (unblocked)
5.7 stitches per inch (spi) and 7 rows per inch (rpi) OR 22.8 stitches & 28 rows to 4 inches/10 cm in stockinette (blocked)

Size: 26 inches around by 8 inches wide (blocked)

To alter the size: Adjust your gauge to increase or decrease the circumference of the scarf as needed. Alter the width as desired.
