The Cowl
This pattern is a freebie, now and always! I hope you enjoy this simple, therapeutic knit :)
This super simple double-layer cowl is ideal TV knitting: just pick it up and go, you don’t even have to count stitches! With this pattern you can create your own stripe design, use up scrap yarn, practice knitting without looking at your work, or even practice a new way to hold the yarn (such as in Continental- or Portuguese-style knitting)! I recommend choosing a more rustic yarn, perhaps even a woolen spun yarn - something that will not drape significantly but will instead hold its shape better.
This cowl is worked sideways – you begin with a Provisional Cast-On and immediately join to start working in the round, continuing until you have reached your desired circumference (somewhere around 24”). At this point, you will join your work to the live sts from the cast on edge using a kitchener stitch. As an added perk, you can hide all of your ends inside the two layers of the cowl – there isn’t a single end to weave in!
Here is a link to the project page for the sample.
