Rhapsody in Self-Striping Yarn
Rhapsody: A free style instrumental piece characterized by dramatic changes in mood.
If you’re anything like me, you LOVE to knit patterned socks, but you also love colorful yarns and have dozens of balls of self striping and glorious hand paints moldering in stash. Rhapsody in self striping yarn was born when I refused to admit that colorful yarns and detailed patterns can’t mix. The stitch pattern is designed to highlight both random and regularly repeating striping yarns, showing off both the yarn and your hard work. It will also give great results with dramatically colored hand-painted yarns. Rhapsody Socks are the ultimate in lazy lace - they only have one lace row to remember, and with regularly repeating striping yarns you don’t even have to count rows - just work the same alternating lace and plain rows until your target color comes up, purl 2 rows, then go back to your lace. Easy to knit, with dramatic results. What could be better?
