My Crochet Kitchen: Poached Eggs
If you’ve ever watched ‘Master Chef’, you’ll know that poached eggs and asparagus is a classic combo! I love the addition of crispy bacon lardons for that extra pop of flavour too.
I wanted to create a way for kids to go beyond simply ‘chopping’ raw veg or stacking a burger – to connect their imaginations with a budding appreciation for flavours, foods and cultures. But it’s also extremely satisfying to make, arrange and play with as ‘older chefs’ too.
Best of all, the poached egg has an added interactive element to it! The white and the yolk are crocheted separately so it can be hidden inside, pulled out to reveal its runny centre or even entirely removed.
This is an intermediate pattern because although many of the stitches are very beginner friendly, the construction methods for some elements of this dish are more unusual and will require a little more focus.
Certain ingredients are crocheted in continuous rounds, while others are worked flat in rows. Instructions at the start of each will let you know which construction method you’ll use, and a photo tutorial will help to demonstrate the techniques used.
Happy crocheting!
