Baby matinee coat from Stitchcraft, May 1960.

The coat is made from the top down with raglan sleeve increases, then divided for fronts, back, and sleeves, which are then seamed. The buttonhole edgings are made along with the main garment and the neck edging made last.

Uses Patons Beehive Baby Wool, 3 ozs (ca. 80 grams). Pattern calls for the colour Peach Pink 1672. There is no colour photo in the magazine. Uses No. 11 (3 mm) needles and requires 3 small buttons. Gauge: 8 sts/inch in stockinette stitch.

The lace-effect raglan increases as well as the “flare” increases in the skirt are made by bordering a narrow bit of moss stitch with eyelets and m1 increases.

One size. Length fron top of shoulders, 10 inches; width all round at underarm, 21 inches; sleeve seam, 6 inches. Will fit an average 6-month old baby.
