Luton Cloche
A refined, lady-like hat with a bright accent of colour on the Brim and the top of the Crown. Excellent for City wear, teamed with a belted Trench coat. Or floating around your garden on a damp day in Spring, secatuers in hand, clipping flowers and channelling Vita Sackville-West.
Yarn held double and knitted at a firm tension gives structure to the brim, then the crown reverts to a single end of yarn. Again, many, many thanks to the lovely people at Artesano for giving us the yarn, we really can’t say enough good things about it - and we would still be saying those things if we’d bought the yarn.
Length from top of Crown to top of garter st. Brim approx. 14.5(16.5)cm / 5¾(6½)“ – easily adjustable but will affect yarn amounts given.
Tension: 14 sts and 28 rows to 10cm over garter st on 6mm nds with yarn held double, after steaming / blocking. This is quite a firm tension for the Brim.
