Isabelle's Crescent Shawlette

Filet crochet is used to form the stars and phases of the moon in this crescent shaped shawlette. Increases and decreases give a modern twist to this traditional style of crochet while creating a wearable shape. Tie around the shoulders as a narrow shawl, behind your back to wear as a shrug, or wrap around your neck as a scarf. The twocolor gradient results in the color changing right over the full moon and a striking contrast when the two ends are tied together.
The filet crochet shawl was airy, revealing quite clearly two crescent moons and the full moon, as well as several stars. The wan light from the window set the silver hair woven within the shawl gleaming . - E x c e r p t fr o m “Unraveling: The Spellbound House” by C. Jane Reid
