Hundred Acre Blanket
The Hundred Acre Blanket is a mitred square blanket and is my own personal interpretation for this classic design.
I designed this blanket for our Summer Of Stitching 2025, which is available to our Bakery Bear Patrons. It was such an enjoyable event that I decided to publish the pattern to everyone!
The construction of the Hundred Acre Blanket is different to a typical mitred square project and the border is also my own design.
Blanket Details
There is NO SEAMING required for this blanket, each square is picked up and then knitted from the previous square.
The blanket is worked in vertical strips, moving from right to left. This method of working means that you create a zigzag pattern with the decrease lines. I had never seen this type of construction before and the idea came entirely from my own creativity.
The way that I have knitted and then joined the squares gives a beautifully neat finish, with the decrease lines meeting up perfectly.
The border is also my own method. It has the look of an I-Cord border but is much quicker and less fussy to work.
I designed the blanket with 24 squares in each vertical strip, making it the ideal project for advent knitting. You can however make your blanket whatever size you prefer.
The patterns contains 9 video tutorials covering every aspect of the blanket knitting. There is also a schematic to show the construction method.
Yarn
The blanket is knitted using fingering weight yarn. I used lots and lots of leftovers and mini skeins.
You can happily mix bases, but for ease of laundering I ensured all of mine were superwash.
Each square uses just under 3g so it’s the prefect project for all of those precious teeny leftovers.
