When I started designing this pattern my vision was to take a solid capelet and split it into three for a unique and interesting look. I quickly realized that I was creating a far more versatile garment that could be worn in nearly infinite ways and all weathers. Traveling cables flow over three bands that twist themselves into a summer sash, a winter cowl, an autumn capelet, a spring bonnet, and so on and so forth.

The pattern starts as a main body section, but that quickly changes as the three arms are formed from the live stitches. A nearly invisible graft then joins the arms to the body via a knit/purl Kitchener, bringing the garment to life and ready for whatever events you can possibly imagine.

MATERIALS NEEDED

Quince and Co Lark worsted weight, 100% American wool; 134 yds per 50g skein; color: Bird’s Egg; 3 (4, 4, 4, 5) skeins, total used: 464 yds (38” bust only)

1 set US size 10½ (6.5mm) straight needles, or size required for gauge
