Double Take Mitts
If you love combining colours, but don’t like handling more than one yarn at a time, then this is the perfect pattern for you! Work two rounds per colour, and let the stitch pattern do the work for you: It will make the colours pool into dots creating the impression of a much more complicated pattern. It also results in a marvellous thick and cushiony fabric. And if that was not enough, it is also very elastic, and moulds itself around the hand in a snug, but comfortable fit. O, and did I mention that it creates a beautiful, bumpy texture?
The double lace edging provides an additional way of mixing colours, adding extra interest, and making the mitts look so much more elegant!
The sizes are Women’s XS, S, M, L, XL for hand circumference above thumb of 17, 18, 19, 20.5, 21.5cm / 6¾, 7⅛, 7½, 8, 8½. If you are between sizes, or like a very snug fit, choose the smaller size - the stitch pattern stretches really well!
The yardage given above is rounded up to full Regia skeins.
This pattern provides detailed instructions (7 pages) with illustrations. All sizes have been test knitted by several knitters.
The design of these mitts was inspired by, and designed for, the S2 August 2011 Double Take Challenge in the Project Yarnway ravelry group, where it won the challenge.
With lots of thanks to my wonderful test knitters!
