Cashmere Mitts
“It took me a while to decide on the structure for these gender-neutral mitts and the textured stitch pattern. I created a rib-like stitch pattern with occasional yarn overs. The texture is not overly dramatic, and the ribbing allows for a flexible fit.
“This project was almost over before it began when my dog tried to eat my homework. I was so thrilled to be part of this project with yarn spun by Stephenie Gaustad and dyed by Jane Woodhouse (who completely covered the package in Star Wars droids postage stamps, which made me smile). After winding the yarn into a ball, I placed it in a yarn bowl and went downstairs to start a load of laundry. The house was quiet. Too quiet. When I got back upstairs, I discovered my 6-month-old Dal-matian puppy had grabbed the ball of cashmere yarn – that had traveled so many miles to get to me – and made a giant snarl out of it. It took about 4hours to detangle the yarn, but it was worth it to create these gorgeous cashmere mitts.”
