The Campus Crew Neck is a DK weight sweater with thick two colour stripes inspired by rugby jerseys/varsity stripes. It has a crew style neckline with a picked up collar, and is worked top down (flat for the armhole shaping, then in the round for the remainder of the body and sleeves) with a sloped drop shoulder construction. The yoke section is worked at a smaller stitch count than the full bust, and has some increases at the bottom, and some armpit cast on stitches to increase to the full bust measurement. The sleeves have a small amount of short row shaping at the top before working straight. The collar, cuffs and bottom edge have a 2x2 ribbed hem. The sweater is designed to fall to a high hip level. The pattern is intended to be a boxy fit, but has options for waist shaping if desired, as well as adjusting length as needed for the body and sleeves. This is a size inclusive design, written for 11 sizes (32-72 inch / 80-180 cm finished bust, in 4 inch / 10 cm increments) and designed for 4-8 inches / 10-20 cm of positive ease.

Note: The sizes reflect the FINISHED bust measurements in inches / cm of the sweater, and listed below you can see the recommended actual bust range for each size. The sweater is designed for 4-8 inches / 10-20 cm of positive ease. To determine the size you wish to knit, measure your bust and add 4-8 inches / 10-20 cm to find the closest size. If you are in between sizes, size down for a snugger fit, or up for a looser fit. My sample is knit with 7 inches / 17.5 cm of positive ease (Size 4 on a 37 inch / 90 cm bust and 30 inch / 75 cm waist).

Note: If you are fairly busty, you may want to use less positive ease, or knit a size based on your upper bust measurement rather than your full bust measurement. This will help prevent the sweater being too loose around the rest of your torso. If you are working with less positive ease than recommended for full bust, you may need to add some additional rows for armhole depth.

Needles recommended:
4.5 mm / US 7 / UK 7 (or size needed to obtain gauge) - main body
4 mm / US 6 / UK 8 (or size needed to obtain gauge) - ribbing
You’ll need a cord length to match your bust measurement as well as 9-16 inch / 22.5-40 cm cord for the sleeves (or DPNs or 32-40 inch / 80-100 cm cord for the magic loop method).

I recommend swatching both in the round and flat, as parts of the sweater are knit flat before joining in the round. If your flat gauge is significantly different than your round gauge, you can adjust needle size for the flat portion.

Yarn recommended:
Two colours of any DK weight yarn to match gauge. Colour 1 will be referred to as C1, and Colour 2 will be referred to as C2.

My sample is knit using The Frosted Stitch - Deep Freeze DK (75% Superwash Merino wool, 25% Nylon, 245 yds / 225 m per 100g) in the colourways Pages (cream - C1) and Atlas (green - C2) from the Library Collection.

Yardage required:
The yardage for this will be roughly equal for your two colours, but depending on the size and how the stripes layout works out on the body/sleeves, you may need more of one colour. The estimates provided are based on the following recommended lengths for body and sleeves, and I have listed which colour the body/sleeves end on if you follow the pattern as written (including the hem/cuffs). The stripes are approx. 2.25 inches / 5.5 cm thick, so if you want to add an additional full stripe you’d need to account for an additional 2.25 inches/ 5.5 cm. You could add some additional length in the final stripe colour for a slightly longer bottom stripe if you don’t wish to add a full stripe length.
