Anaphase is the fourth phase of mitosis, the process that separates the duplicated genetic material carried in the nucleus of a parent cell into two identical daughter cells. During this stage the separated chromosomes are pulled by the spindle to opposite poles of the cell. The pattern was inspired by those star-like spindle structures.

The mittens are worked in the round in reverse stockinette stitch with a pattern of twisted sts and cables on the front panel and feature anatomically fitted thumb.

Sizes
The pattern is written for three sizes S (M, L) to fit 18 (20.5, 22) cm /7 (8, 8.6) in palm width with ca. 15 (16.5, 18) cm /5.9 (6.4, 7) in wide and 6 cm /2.35 in long cuffs.

Yarn
ca. 90 g of Drops Nepal, 65% wool and 35% alpaca with 75 m in 50 g, shown in colour Grey 0501; or any similar yarn to match the gauge.

Needles and notions
A pair of 3.75 mm (US 5) and 3.5 mm (US 4) double pointed or circular needles (smaller size to work the cuffs and thumbs). You are welcome to use circular needles with a longer cable to work the two mittens at the same time using magic loop technique. Also, stitch markers; stitch holder or scrap yarn; ca. 2.5 mm (B or C) crochet hook or
tapestry needle, cable needle (optional).

Gauge
22 sts and 15 rows in 10 cm (4 in) measured over reverse stockinette stitch in the round after blocking on 3.75 mm (5 US) needles. Adjust the needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
