This reversible DK-weight scarf combines garter stitch, textured ridges, and brioche ribbing with beautiful brioche leaves. Although the leaves may appear complicated, there are only 2 pattern rows — the rest is identical to brioche ribbing. So if you’re ready to step up your brioche game, this is a great way to do it!

Among the Leaves is worked from one short end to the other, beginning and ending with a band of decorative brioche leaves. I-cords along both edges keep them tidy and invisibly carry the color that is not in use. In the body of the scarf, narrow bands of two-color brioche alternate with solid garter-stitch sections. This keeps the knitting interesting while creating a delightfully warm and squishy fabric.

Both the width and length can be customized to arrive at your favorite dimensions.

Instructions for customizing scarf width and length are included. Please note that any changes will affect the yardage required.

Blocked Gauge

17.5 Stitches and 30 rows = 4”/10 cm square in garter stitch using US 6/4 mm needle.

Gauge is not crucial for this project but will affect yardage and finished size if different from above.

Yarn

• Approximately 610 yd/558 m of DK-weight yarn in main color, or 3 skeins of Scheepjes Woolwise (shown in 706 Birch Bark); AND
• Approximately 135 yd/124 m of DK-weight yarn in contrast color, or 1 skein of Scheepjes Woolwise (shown in 749 Cosmic Blue).

Note: For the clearest leaves, choose a main color that is significantly lighter or brighter than the contrast color.

Needles & Notions

• US 6/4 mm circular needle, 24”/60 cm long, or size to obtain gauge
• Spare double-pointed needle, cable or circular needle, size US 6/4 mm or smaller
• 5 Stitch markers
• Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
• Pins for blocking

If you’d like to substitute Scheepjes Scrumptious yarn, you will need:

• 2 skeins of the main color, AND
• 1 skein of the contrast color.

All other materials and measurements remain the same.
Blocked gauge: 21 Stitches and 40 rows = 4”/10 cm square in garter stitch using US 6/4 mm needle.

If you’d like to substitute Scheepjes Softfun yarn, you will need:

• 4 skeins of the main color,
• 1 skein of the contrast color, AND
• US 4/3.5 needles

All other materials remain the same.
Blocked measurements: 80”/203 cm long and 8.5”/22 cm wide.
Blocked gauge: 22 Stitches and 44 rows = 4”/10 cm square in garter stitch using US 4/3.5 mm needle.
