Abbey Road Socks
A round three-ply yarn composed of wool and silk (for strength), Tern is great for texture patterns. These socks combine twisted and traveling stitches to form a raised pattern within a ribbed foundation (for optimum comfort and fit). Knitted from the toe up, they feature what looks like a standard heel, although the parts are worked in the reverse order—gussets first, followed by the heel turn, then the heel flap. This allows the pattern to flow continuously along the back of the heel, an attractive way to reinforce this area of stress. The heel has a bit of a puckery look when the socks are laid flat, but it fits the foot beautifully. The pattern continues to the super stretchy bind-off at the top of the leg, but the last bit of the center front motif is worked as a twisted rib for the final inch.
About 7” foot circumference (will stretch to 8”) and 9¾” foot length.
Instructions for larger sizes included in pattern.
