A Little Touch of Irish - 2 Mitts patterns for the price of 1 !
I was in The Hague with a friend and dragged her into a yarn shop in search of some new yarn, hopefully with a Dutch connection. I came out with a green tweed Danish yarn that’s spun and dyed in Ireland! LOL! It was meant to be.
There are two Little Touch of Irish patterns: a quickly knitted pair of fingerless mitts, and a pair of finger-full mittens ;) The simple fingerless mitts knit up so fast that you’ll be making them for everyone. Both contain an ancient cable stitch that is found in many Aran sweaters from the west coast of Ireland. This pattern gives you an introduction to this traditional Irish cable knitting.
Both mitts are knit in the round, with an after-thought thumb, using a fingering weight yarn. The fingerless mitts are shown in Isager Tweed, and the full mittens in S-Twist Wool, a completely 100% Irish yarn, sourced from Irish sheep fleece.
Which style you will want to knit, I leave to you. Have fun!
Happy Knitting!
