3-Act Play Scarf
This scarf pattern is an adventurous knit worked from one side to the other in 3-Acts (3 sections). The first Act is made up of 3 triangles, joined-as-you-go. The second Act is worked straight, on the bias. The third Act is worked with a scalloped edge.
I love playing with a basic pattern and so I need to tell you that I got totally carried away with this scarf. I knit a Garter Stitch version (the main pattern) but couldn’t stop there.
The main pattern is worked in Garter Stitch and is terrific for little left-over balls of yarn. There is a second download which is 7 pages of modifications you can choose to work with. I told you I got carried away. You can add stripes to any part of your scarf OR different stitch patterns.
Act I, the Triangles, can be worked in different eyelet patterns. The Biased Centre can be worked in a variety of slip stitch patterns. The Tail End can be worked in lace patterns. You can try them all or choose only one or rest and knit garter stitch at any point. You are the boss of this scarf.
I used a range of fingering (sock) yarn for the 3 samples: variegated yarns and solid colours as well as many little odd left-over balls. Dive into your stash and see what you can come up with.
