ORGANIC – OEKO-TEX® – ANIMAL WELFARE - LIGHTWEIGHT – DURABILITY

Økologisk Hverdagsuld (“organic everyday wool”) is processed and spun exclusively for CaMaRose out of 100% organic fibres by my European manufacturer, who, like all my manufacturers, shows great care for the environment, animal welfare, health, working conditions, sustainability, and quality.

The 100% organic virgin fibres are spun into a traditional 2 ply which is then dyed with STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified colors, creating the even and unique colors custom-made for CaMaRose.

The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certification ensures that Økologisk Hverdagsuld is sustainable and has been tested and certified to be free from more than 300 environmental and health-hazardous substances. STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is the pioneering certification when it comes to textiles and the test criteria go far beyond the applicable standards in Denmark and EU. You will find the certification on the yarn label. If you want to know more about STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, please visit www.okotex.dk.

Økologisk Hverdagsuld is a traditional 2 ply with 100% organic virgin wool. Økologisk Hverdagsuld is a DK weight yarn with 150 meters per 50 g. The recommended gauge is 20-22 sts x 30 rows and the recommended needle size is 3,5-4 mm.

The fibres and the structure make Økologisk Hverdagsuld a light but hard wearing yarn - perfect for sweaters, cardigans, trekking pants, interior, hobby, weaving, felting, and dyeing.

The color chart is designed to make it possible to combine neutrals, contrasts, multiple shades of the same color as well as marling by holding two yarns together. The color chart is regularly expanded in line with current trends to keep the selection updated and inspiring for individual color combinations.

The traditional wool, the structure, the durability, and the ability of the fibres to absorb large amounts of moisture without feeling wet make Økologisk Hverdagsuld an obvious choice for knitting sweaters, cardigans/kofter, and mittens/votter that have to be able to hold heat well – even in the Nordic climate. With the wide range of colors in Økologisk Hverdagsuld, the traditional Nordic designs can be knitted in many beautiful color combinations ranging from the traditional to the more trend inspired.

Økologisk Hverdagsuld is the perfect yarn for interior such as blankets, partly because the yarn has a generous metreage but in particular because the fibres bloom after washing, giving it a lot of volume per weight, which means you can knit or crochet even very large blankets and get a light and hard wearing result. As an example, my very popular and beginner friendly Begynder Tæppe (“beginner’s blanket”) is knit with Økologisk Hverdagsuld.

Økologisk Hverdagsuld is a great choice for crocheting projects where both stability and durability is required. If you crochet Økologisk Hverdagsuld at a tight gauge and maybe even held double for bigger projects, you will find that it not only keeps the shape incredibly well but is hard wearing while textures such as bobbles stand out beautifully - also after use.

Økologisk Hverdagsuld in the natural colorway Råhvid 02 (“off white”) is a fit base for natural dyeing where you want an organic yarn as the starting point. Økologisk Hverdagsuld takes the color beautifully and evenly. After being rewound it is extremely easy to handle in the dyepots and is hardy in the dye process.

To get the full impression of Økologisk Hverdagsuld’s characteristics and expression, I recommend knitting and washing a swatch using a good wool detergent, at 30 degree maximum on a wool or delicate cycle, and laying flat to dry.

After washing you will experience how the yarn blooms and gives the project extra volume and softness without losing its traditional expression.

Økologisk Hverdagsuld gives you all the benefits of natural fibres combined with high quality, environmental sustainability, animal welfare, and last but not least, you get a product that is nice to work with for hours at a time.

As an alternative to organic 100% wool, you can use my Økologisk Sommeruld (“organic summer wool”), 30% organic cotton, 70% organic merino wool, which you will find in a beautiful range of colors.

I wish you a pleasant experience with Økologisk Hverdagsuld – a CaMaRose yarn created with the greatest care.
