Knitting: Sleeveless Top
Hit the festival circuit, the garden party or the beach in Cigne – a fun lacy halter top worked in one Freia Superwash Sport full size ball and two matching Minikins for the bra cups. Shaped cups ensure good coverage, and a hidden elastic attached below the bust keeps the fit snug at the body. The top is worked in the round to the upper rib cag...
Knitting: Scarf
Ziazan is an Armenian given name meaning “rainbow”. This design is a deeper dive into color with simple shaping as seen originally in the Brimfield scarf. You will be working a pattern repeat consisting of a series of alternating increases and decreases in two different scales (it’s simpler than it sounds!). It’s an enjoyable, memorable pattern...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
I named this pattern Libra as it reminded me of a scale, swinging back and forth, in and out of equilibrium with each added panel. It is worked with one minikin being used from start to finish for each panel and is reminiscent of a log cabin quilt design, with progressively built segments. I’ve worked it here using 6 Superwash Sport Minikins bu...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
The placement of the shaping (increases) is dictated by the random number generator you will use while working this shawl. No two shawls will ever be the same, but they will all be equally beautiful and engaging to knit. This is a great project to practice your brioche stitches, working only one color at a time in a reversible design.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
We love this honeycomb stitch so much that we went head to toe with it! Here’s the Asali Beanie worked in the familiar stitch we did in the matching Asali Shawl and Asali Socks. This cute hat knits up in a couple of evenings using two contrasting Superwash Sport Merino Minikins.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
The Asali socks are worked using contrasting colors to enhance the raised honeycomb pattern. In this case the pattern is worked from each end of the same ball of our gradient yarn in the Sobek colorway, a high contrast gradient from one end to the other.
Knitting: Cowl
A one-ball project designed specifically for our oversized Shaniko Superwash Worsted gradient yarn. This is a fun project that wonderfully shows off all the lovely qualities of this yarn, the slow-changing gradient, the plumpness and softness of the yarn, the stitch definition as well as the extended yardage.
Knitting: Scarf
The Highlands Scarf is inspired by the expansive views of the infinite rolling hills in the Berkshires where I live as well as my memories of travels through the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. That these mountains and valleys were linked a hundred million years ago is no surprise given their similar appearance.
Knitting: Baby Blanket
Bambino brings together two of my favorite stitch patterns – the zigzag and the fan and feather. Both patterns are created with increasing and decreasing your stitches but one has a very different look from the other. Both are easy enough to memorize to make this a fun, casual knitting project.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Worked from cast-on edge/corner out, increasing stitches along one edge. One color is used at a time with the pattern created in an easy to memorize slip-stitch. A loose rib border is worked in the final step. You will use all the yarn available to you, but your size may vary based on gauge. Shawl will grow substantially with blocking, so check...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Stop traffic with this bold graphic! Vice Versa is a semi-circular shawl worked in 2 contrasting minikin colors - seen here in 3 balls each of Aurora and Harvest. This makes a lovely soft shawl that’s easy to style as a multitude of ways as a scarf or if you prefer, use a pin at the neck to create a cape. Knit using a very basic short row repea...
Knitting: Cowl, Beanie, Toque
I named this pattern Oscilla as the rhythmic slipstitch repeat is like a slow wave or oscillation as you work each round. This is an easy to follow pattern, using only one yarn at a time.
Knitting: Cowl
This cozy cowl is made with two-color brioche in alternating gradient yarns and a stepped columnar pattern.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
A randomized color sequence turns gradients into coordinating stripes in this large crescent shaped shawl.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
One ball of Freia Fine Handpaints Super Bulky Yarn knits up quick to make this fun toasty hat! An extra layer of warmth is provided around the ears with the placement of staggered bobbles (or tufts!).
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Here’s a fun topper to chase off the chill, knit in our lovely plump Worsted wool yarn in a simple easy to memorize fair isle pattern. This hat is written in 3 sizes but can be further adjusted as needed by modifying the repeat. A nice full pompom is made at the end from all the remaining gradient yarn. Uses one gradient and one semi-solid cont...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Mirrored and offset purl ridges on a knit background, sporadically broken by a zigzag Fletch patterning for a stylish asymmetrical shawl
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
I like the form follows function design concept and so does nature. In this design, inspired by the angle shades moth, the center triangle, the “body”, naturally creates a shaping for the “wings”, making the shawl easier to wear. And the mitered triangles take full advantage of the color in the yarns, adding a little ornament to the form.
Knitting: Scarf, Shawl / Wrap
Gradients transition along a long arrow shape for a fun scarf or dramatic wrap. Two ombré colourways are worked in a simple intarsia pattern. Tassels dangle from each of the corners.
Knitting: Scarf
Inspired by a type of medieval veil, the pleated (or goffered) edge of this crescent shaped neck scarf adds interest, whimsy and texture to a functional and fashionable accessory. The scarf is knit lengthwise, using short-rows and increases for shaping. A unique twisted edging at the neck takes advantage of the natural tendency of knit fabric t...
Knitting: Cardigan
Sequoia is a simple yet elegant open-front cardigan knit up in a rich autumn color palette. The design combines the hand-painted ombré Canyon colorway with coordinating Red Oxide semi-solid. All sizes use two balls of the ombré yarn to ensure that you will get the full spectrum of the gradient throughout the sweater without having extra yarn go...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This generously sized, bias knit wrap makes clever use of two complementary ombre colorways. Simple eyelet bands add interest to the corner sections while a dramatic feather and fan slide section shows off a contrasting color. Choosing color combinations is as addictive as the knitting!
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Concentric Garter Stitch Triangles with a Neon Accent Create a Modern Triangular Shawl
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
For this shawl I was inspired by the concept of interlocking palm leaves. I chose two contrasting Ombré shades for the first sample, in dark colors of greys and black with a pop of yellow.
Knitting: Pullover
This mermaid inspired sweater combines fair-isle patterning with the magic of ombré yarn. The bright mint fish-scale pattern on the yoke and sleeves blends slowly into a deep grey-green body. The sweater is knit from the top down in one piece, so there are no seams to sew and you can try it on and adjust the fit as you go.
Knitting: Cowl
Combining short rows and a fan and feather variation creates expanding segments of perfectly placed color in this wavy hourglass shaped cowl.
Knitting: Cowl
Mitered knitting is an easy way to play with color. This cowl can be made with either one or two balls of yarn.
Knitting: Cowl
Super fun and easy cowl knit flat. Begun with a provisional cast on, finished with 3 needles bind off. Cowl showcases slow transitioning gradient yarns, using two contrasting yarns that finish at one end with the same color. Pattern is free on our Instagram feed freiafibers
Knitting: Cowl
Taller in the front, shorter in the back, makes this cowl comfortable no matter how many layers you have on and gives you warmth where you need it most. Worked in a simplified short row pattern on circular needles with stitches dropped at the end of the project to create a broad rib pattern. Quick, fun and just one ball of yarn, pattern gives i...

Knitting: Pullover
An ultra-cozy pullover featuring a unique chunky “braid” detail down the center front and at the cuffs of the sleeves. This very easy, yet striking technique is fully explained in the pattern with step-by-step illustrated instructions.
Knitting: Cowl
The Shortwave capelet is a small cape, or large cowl, depending on how you wear it. It is knit sideways around the body, and shaped with simple short-rows.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Feather and Fan undulations are accompanied by a dramatic drop stitch for this elegant wrap.
Knitting: Vest
The Sideliner Vest, by designer Sarah Lucas, is a fun and flattering color-blocked design. This pattern combines different types of ribbing and multi-directional knitting to create a cinched in waistline with the narrower vertical rib and a roomy bust area with the wider rib in horizontal striping. Every area is individually worked to break up ...
Knitting: Vest
The Chokki Vest is a great little layering piece to add to your autumn wardrobe. The multi-directional knitting and the use of two different types of ribbing add interesting detail to a simple silhouette. The back of the vest is divided into two halves, with a different color direction and rib pattern on each. The front panels overlap at the ce...
Knitting: Pullover
An elegant lightweight top shown here in our Alpaca/Silk Lace (interchangeable with our Merino Lace) - this style universally fits and flatters!
Knitting: Cowl
Easy to follow and memorize lace repeat. Lace three-dimensional pattern resembles the dramatic leafed colums of ancient Greece. Knitting alternates between two complimentary lace patterns, creating a sophisticated three dimensional cowl. Perfect for early fall or cool spring days! Designed by Sue Forstat.
Knitting: Scarf
Shown here in both Lace and Fingering weight. For the Fingering Shawl Ball version I used two balls - makes a lovely big soft warm scarf.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Originally designed in our Flux Self Striping sport (now discontinued) we’ve updated the pattern to work beautifully in our Superwash Shaniko Sport Minikins. Sized from 16” to 23” you’re pretty much covered no matter how large or small a hat you need to make. It’s a simple cable pattern that repeats for an allover design. It’s really hard to ma...
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Shown here in “metal earth” and “blue patina”. Requires one 50g skein of each color.
Knitting: Cardigan
This Kimono style cardigan is both a very simple and uniquely constructed design. Easy to follow, easy to knit and easy to wear. Most pieces are knit onto the body as you go which leaves very little finishing work and makes for quick, tidy seams. Sweater sizing can be customized in length and width to fit your personal style and body shape. Thi...

Beret is made with the sportweight Silk Garden sock yarn. Scarf is made with the aran weight Silk Garden. Use the appropriate needles for each piece.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
I’ve just recently overhauled this pattern, worked it in two new yarns, adding a sport weight version using my own Freia Handpaint Yarns for all of them. Pattern requires one ball of MC and one of CC regardless of worsted or sport versions.

Knitting: Animal Toy
There are 5 colors recommended for this pattern. The body color calls for 86 meters, an accent color calling for 19 meters, and 3 additional accents calling for between 2 and 6 meters.
Knitting: Swimwear
Woven Stitch really shows off the yarn nicely. Glam yarn is made of nylon and has just enough stretch to work for the bikini. Great colors with a bit of glitz! Knits up at just the right weight to offer good coverage for a bikni.
Knitting: Scarf
Uses one skein each of 4 colors, hat is made first, and the scarf uses up remaining yarn
