Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
These top down socks begin with a two-colour long-tail cast on which leads into the k1p1 ribbed cuff. Use a long-tail cast-on instructions and simply work using two strands of yarn. The colourwork on the leg ends with a standard heel flap and gusset. The foot is plain, except for a little colourwork just before the wedge toe.

Knitting: Cloche Hat
Esme is a quick to knit hat that gives you two looks in one. Worn on the top of the head, it’s a tam. With the cabled brim pulled down over the ears, it becomes a cloche hat. Knit at a tighter tension than recommended, the yarn makes a warm fabric, perfect for the colder weather.

Inspired by the colourway of my yarn, MacIntosh, I started thinking about apples. I then remembered the tale of the English mathematician and code-breaker Alan Turing who died after eating a poisoned apple. It is said that the Apple Macintosh computer logo is an homage to this brilliant man.
