Gansey inspired British Driving Cap: Combining stitch patterning & cables from the traditional Fisherman’s Gansey with the classic shape of the driving cap.
The cap is easily adjustable to a custom fit, sized for adults. Cap top is knit flat, then picked up & finished in the round, brim picked up & knit on last. Extras include 1 snap set & a small sheet of 14 mesh plastic canvas to stiffen the brim & (optional) 20-23” of 2.5cm (1”) wide elastic to insert in hat band hem for a more snug fit. Matching fingerless driving knucks feature classic Channel Island cast-on, moss st welt with margin rib, garter ridge edge lines & mock-cable & rib ‘skirt’, with a single diamond motif as on the cap on the back of each hand, & optional suede grips stitched to the palms (commercially available from Somerset Designs). Gloves are presented in 3 adult sizes.
