Zigzag Stripes
Pattern Description from Scarf Style: “Simple stripe patterns offer many design possibilities. In these vibrant blue and green scarves, Debbie Bliss has turned classic stripes into zigzags by working them in a chevron pattern. She likes the way the combination of strong colors and zigzags hark back to the jazzy patterns of the 1970s. Pom-poms on the border of the smaller scarf call attention to the funky, pointed ends.”
Finished Size
- Adult scarf measures 6” (15 cm) wide and 72” (183 cm) long.
- Child’s scarf measures 4½“ (11.5 cm) wide and 38” (96.5 cm) long, not including pom-poms.
Yarn Debbie Bliss Merino DK (100% Merino; 122 yd (112m)/50 g):
- Adult scarf: #214 navy, #202 bright blue, #203 duck-egg blue, #502 apple green, #503 acid yellow, #506 dark green, 1 ball each
- Child’s scarf: #506 dark green, 2 balls; #214 navy, #202 bright blue, #203 duck-egg blue, #502 apple green, #503 acid yellow, 1 ball each
Needles: Size 7 (4.5mm). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Gauge: 34 stitches and 26 rows = 4” (10 cm) in chevron pattern
Note from Raveler:
Yardage is perhaps misleading because of colorwork issues. The child’s size requires the larger amounts of yarn.
