This pattern was inspired by a 2016 visit to York Minster, a stunning 15th century Gothic cathedral in the north of England. I was particularly moved by the Rose Window in the south transept.
Fascinated by how the sunlight shone through the stained-glass window, I wanted to design mitts which depicted shards of coloured light on top of beautiful stone work.
The mitts are worked in one piece with an integrated thumb gusset. The colourwork repeats are small which makes this an ideal first colourwork project, and also gives rich opportunity to showcase the beauty of hand-dyed yarn.
