YARN & MACHINE NOTES: The Eastport Alpaca DK #3 weight yarn works well on the mid-gauge machine. 6 stitches/7.75 rows/inch after washing the swatch. The yarn is fuzzy so it tends to require a larger stitch size than a smooth yarn of similar weight. It lofts wonderfully after hand washing. The hat requires 6 oz. of yarn in total. Sample was knitted on the Artisan D-70 at stitch size 5.5. Hat measures 20.5” in circumference and 8.5” from point of crown to bottom of hem. Ear flaps are 4” wide at the top and 2.75” long. 8 oz of yarn will make a hat.
