In 2013, I left home and I moved to Portland, OR. In my crafty endeavors, I quickly stumbled upon the Pendleton Woolen Mill Store, Portland’s most hidden gem. Giant bins of scrap fabric from their woolen mills all around the Pacific Northwest; remnants sold by the pound, quickly became an obsession. I spent hours at a time digging through these bins, searching for and being inspired by all of the colorful patterns on these scraps - blanket headers and small pieces of vibrant, wool fabric. I was inspired by those small fabric scraps to design colorwork that reminds me of days of digging, those details in small form.
This colorwork cowl is designed for two contrasting semi-solid or tonal worsted weight yarns. Superwash Merino is recommended, but this cowl will look great in any smooth fiber that shows off colorwork!
