Gauge:
24 sts & 32 rows = 10 cm / 4” over stocking stitch on 3.75 mm needles after blocking.
Needles:
3.5 mm / US 4 circular needle, minimum 80 cm / 32” length 3.75 mm / US 5 circular needle, 80 cm / 32” length 3.75 mm / US 5 circular needle,
40 cm / 16” length 3.25 mm / US 3 circular needle, 80 cm / 32” length
3.75 mm / US 5 AND 3.25 mm / US 3 AND 3 mm / US 2.5 needles suitable for working small circumferences in the round. Always use a needle size that will result
in the correct gauge after blocking.
Notions: 2 stitch markers, locking stitch markers, stitch holders or scrap yarn, spare needle in same or smaller size than largest needle,
tapestry needle.
Notes:
Woodman is worked flat from the bottom up with shaping at the front neck edges and sides. Once the body is complete, stitches are held for the fronts and the back is worked with exaggerated armhole shaping.
Stitches are picked up along the back and the held front stitches, epaulettes are worked using welts, before the sleeves are worked from the top down with a short row sleeve cap. Once the sleeves are complete, a neckband is picked up and worked outwards from the front edges.
