Winged Cap
Discontinued.
This digital pattern is no longer available online.
This started off being a cap for the Messenger of the Gods, but when I finished it and tried it on, I came over all Brünhilde and felt rather Wagnerian. I think it’s the long blonde plaits!
Anyway, this is a fun cap knitting using garter stitch, stocking stitch and short rows, with a minimal amount of sewing at the end. Both the cap and the wings can be made using variable weights of yarn; in this case I used aran-weight for the cap and double-knitting for the wings. I used a smaller than usual needle in both cases to get a firm fabric, which is needed because of the structural nature of the cap.
