Wildfire
Wildfire is a radiating lace shawl that begins with a honeycomb mesh and expands into a delicate, textured lace.
The edging lace was created by Naomi Parkhurst based on the word Wildfire, so this project seemed a fitting way to keep myself constructive during the fires here in Australia over summer 2019/20.
Sales from this pattern raised $350 for Conservation Volunteers, to support the regeneration of lost bushland.
$300 donated 10/10/2020, thanks to your support.

The size of the shawl can be adjusted in several ways - increasing the number of wedges in the semi-circle, or working more or less of the honeycomb. The design suits lace to fingering yarn, in solid, semi-solid, gradient or subtle speckle varieties. It’s possible to increase the number of wedges for a rounder shape, and/or to adjust the depth of the shawl.
- Yardage requirements are somewhat flexible, requiring a minimum of approx 500m (550y) of lace to fingering weight yarn. It could use up to 1000m with extra wedges/repeats. (Needle size will depend on yarn weight and gauge preference.)
- The design can be worked entirely from the written pattern, or from charts with some notes.
