A long and relatively shallow crescent shawl, worked top-down from a small cast-on. All three lace charts may be repeated as you choose, thus the shawl is fully adjustable in size.

The main instructions are for a shawl with all-over lace. If you prefer to work a plain yoke with wide lace border, as in the grey-to-yellow sample, a note is included of how to adapt the pattern.

Suitable for any yarn with good stitch-definition, and any yardage from about 300m/330yds upward.

The two samples are in heavy laceweight:
. the green-to-red gradient shawl with all-over lace used approx. 520m/570yds of silk/merino;
. the grey-to-yellow gradient shawl with plain yoke used approx. 580m/635yds of mulberry silk.

Please note that the pattern is given as charts only, with little written explanation. There’s nothing technically awkward involved, and knitters with the ability to read their stitches and experience of working lace should have no difficulties with it, but it is probably not suitable for beginners.
