We do sell this as a kit, too!

Yes, you are seeing that correctly. This is a knitted pocket Sasquatch AND Yeti knitting pattern. Yup, this pattern can make both a Big Foot and his cold-weather cousin a Yeti, just depending on what colors you use. Amazeballs, right? We know. We knew you would love it!

These tiny mythical creatures are perfect to give as gifts, or even to make up as party favors (if you can manage to part with the adorableness once you are finished!). You can also use the pattern to make any color and multiple sizes of Squatches and Yetis, depending on what weight yarn you use. This would make the best camping knitting project ever, by the way. And think of how much better hide and seek is going to be with these little friends! Like you are even reading this far since you have already put this pattern in your cart and purchased it!

Yarn:
30-55 yards of dark brown or cream yarn for body

Scrap black yarn for mouth embroidery
The heavier the yarn weight, the more yardage needed.

This pattern is written round by round so that you can use any weight yarn you want to create all sorts of sizes of skookum friends. Try sock yarn for pocket size Squatches, or bulky yarn perfect for a huggable friend. Because who doesn’t want to hug Bigfoot?

Want this to be a prepackaged, ready-to-go project? We can make that happen! We also sell this pattern as a kit in our shop.

Gauge: You pick! Simply knit with your choice of yarn on needles 2-3 sizes smaller than called for to get a tight knit fabric your stuffing won’t show through.

Needles: You pick! A 40” or longer circular needle (for Magic Loop Method) in a size right for your yarn, plus one additional needle for three needle bind off. See the pattern for more info.

Notions: Scissors, tapestry needle, beginning of the round stitch marker (removable or closed), optional row counter, 10 removable stitch markers, stuffing, and a set of safety eyes (or other eye choice such as buttons or scrap yarn for embroidery). You can use stitch holders, or an additional any length circular needle, or 2 dpn’s for the legs.

Finished size: Your finished size will depend on what weight yarn you use. If you are knitting this pattern in sock weight yarn like the smallest samples shown your finished friends will come out about 3” tall with 6mm safety eyes. The worsted weight sample measures approximately 4.5” tall with 9mm safety eyes. The bulky weight sample measures approximately 6.5” tall with 11mm safety eyes.
