We here at Wicked Chickens love pulling out our knitted ornaments that we have made over the years, so we have created 2 adorable ornaments for you this year! This listing is for our sweet little Christmas mice, complete with darling little knitted hats. These guys are such a quick and fun knit they are perfect to knit up for your family and friends because they take no time at all! We bet you could start one on Christmas Eve and have it on your tree Christmas morning!
These charming little mouse friends are perfect to give as gifts, or to use for decorating your house. Think of how cute it would be if each of your guests had a mousey holding their name on their plate at your Christmas dinner table! Or, start a tradition like we do and gift your family a sweet little ornament every year for their trees. Plus this is a quick and fun knit and you will find yourself making a whole house full of little knitted mousey friends! You can also use the pattern to make multiple sizes of mice depending on what weight yarn you use, as illustrated in the last photo. Skill Level: Intermediate as determined by the Craft Yarn Council. We would recommend this pattern for beginning knitters that are comfortable knitting in the round or who want a bit of a challenge. We have rated it “intermediate” because according to the Craft Council skill level guidelines, anything knitted in the round is intermediate.
Skills used: Basic knit and purl stitches, increases, decreases, knitting in the round, picking up stitches, Magic Loop Method for knitting in the round, and basic sewing skills.

Pattern Format: Instant download Adobe .pdf file
Yarn:
40-65 yards of white or gray yarn for the mouse
20-45 yards of red or green yarn for hat
The heavier the yarn weight, the more yardage needed.
This pattern is written round by round so that you can use any weight yarn you want to create all sorts of sizes of magical friends. Try sock yarn for pocket size turkeys, or bulky yarn for a large buddy perfect for the centerpiece at your Thanksgiving dinner.

Gauge: You pick! Simply knit with your choice of yarn on needles 2-3 sizes smaller than called for to get a tight knit fabric your stuffing won’t show through.
Needles: You pick! A 40” or longer circular needle (for Magic Loop Method) in a size right for your yarn.
Notions: Scissors, tapestry needle, beginning of the round stitch marker (removable or closed), optional row counter, 16 removable stitch markers, stuffing, and a set of safety eyes and a triangle safety nose (or other eye and nose choice such as buttons or scrap yarn for embroidery).
Finished size: Your finished size will depend on what weight yarn you use. The sock weight yarn samples measure about 5” tall with 6mm safety eyes and an 8mm triangle safety nose. The worsted weight sample measures approximately 7” tall with 9mm safety eyes and a 15m safety nose.
