Whittaker Beanie
The Whittaker Beanie is a really quick fun project that will keep you or your loved one warm and cosy. It can be made in endless colour combinations to suit your taste or mood.
TECHNIQUES & PATTERN OVERVIEW
The main part of the hat is made with extended single crochet (US) or extended double crochet (UK) stitches with a few rounds of tapestry crochet.
scBLO (US) or dcBLO (UK) stitches are used with a join-as-you-go method to make the ribbing.
All stitches and techniques are explained in the pattern.
The pattern includes full written instructions, a colourwork chart, comprehensive pattern notes and tips for making the beanie.

This project would be suitable for a beginner with some experience of the basic stitches, or an intermediate crocheter looking to try tapestry crochet for the first time.
SIZE
The beanie comes in one size and would fit an older child or adult. However, instructions are included to vary the circumference and/or height.
The brim has a circumference of 54cm (unstretched).
The beanie has a height of 24cm with the ribbing turned up.
YARN
Sirdar Loveful 100% Recycled Tweed Blend DK (DK; 300m / 100g ball; 40% Recycled Wool, 40% Recycled Polyester, 20% Recycled Acrylic)
MC: Birch (200) - less than 50g/150m
CC: Pool (202) - less than 50g/150m
You could substitute for other DK wool or acrylic yarns.
CROCHET LEVEL
Competent beginner to intermediate.
