Wheat and Barley Mitts
This cowl and mitts set is knit in the round using a light DK-weight yarn in 2 colors. (Note both pieces are included in this pattern.) Both pieces are worked with an easy slip-stitch pattern to create a textured, tweedy pattern.
Note the slipped-stitch pattern is presented in chart form ONLY.
Wheat and barley were essential grains grown in the medieval period. Used not only as food that could be eaten throughout the winter months, they were also essential items in the beer-brewing process.
This cowl and mitts set are the 5th in a 6-part pattern series featuring colorwork and textured patterns for the Wooly Wonka Fibers Herbarium Club 2017. An ebook collection of all the patterns (with patterns released every 2 months during the course of 2017) is also available.
