In 1941, the western red lily was chosen as the official flower of Saskatchewan. This lily grows in moist meadows and semi-wooded areas and, with its flaming red blossoms (that are in fact more orange than red), it stands out brilliantly against a natural green background.

Although created here with Donegal tweed, this pattern could as easily be a sunflower or daisy by simply changing the colour of the yarn.
