water's edge shawl
This shawl is for those of us who like to gaze at the waves rolling in. Knit top-down from the centre outwards, crescent-shaped, with a knitted-on edging.
MATERIALS
YARN: Oceanwind Knits MCN Sock, hand-dyed, shown in colourway ‘Stonewashed’, 80% superwash merino wool / 10% cashmere / 10% nylon, 115g / 4oz - 378 yds / 345 m or, about 370 yds (340 m) of fingering or lace weight yarn.
NEEDLES: US6 4 mm straights or circular needles to suit knitting a shawl from the top down (a minimum 60cm / 24” circular is recommended); DPN in similar size for working border (optional).
GAUGE: 4.5 sts and 6 rows in 1” (2.54 cm) square, in garter stripe pattern, blocked. Check your gauge and change needle size if required.
SIZE: 70” (178 cm) wingspan, 16” (40.6 cm) deep at centre back
OTHER: stitch-markers (if you are someone who likes to mark repeats); tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
