Short rows shape the wedges between eyelets in in this 2-color garter-stitch shawl. Knitting starts at the bottom left edge and the stitch count increases in each short-row wedge.
Techniques used
Long-tail cast-on
Yarn overs
Decreasing with k2tog
Wrap and turn short rows
Materials
860 yards of fingering-weight yarn; 790 of the main color and 70 of the contrasting color
US4/3.5mm needles or size needed to obtain gauge (due to the large number of stitches, a circular needle with a cable 32” or longer is recommended)
Stitch marker
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Blocking supplies
Sample was knit in Sunshine Yarns Haven Sock in Lowcountry and Custer’s Lookout
