Water Sprite
Water Sprite is worked as a top-down triangle with wide crescent border. The design is highly adaptable in size: all five of the main lace-charts may be repeated as you please, or the sequence of laces abridged by skipping a chart or two.
Although it is charted with large numbers of crossed stitches (for which a cable needle is not required), the shawl may also be worked more straightforwardly, by substituting plain stitches for almost all of the crosses. The white-to-grey sample shows this version. Notes of the potential simplifications are given with each chart.
Suitable for any yarn, from cobweb to fingering weight, that knits with good stitch-definition, and about 375m/415yds upwards for a shawlette; 450m/490yds for a small shawl; a minimum of 600m/655yds, for a full-sized shawl.
The pale turquoise gradient shawl used approx. 100g = 600m/655yds of heavy laceweight yarn
The yellow gradient shawl used a little under 110g = 550m/600yds of light fingering yarn
The white-to-grey gradient shawl used approx. 91g = 455m/500yds of light fingering yarn

Please note that the pattern is given as charts only, with little written explanation. It should present no difficulties to knitters with experience of working lace and the ability to read their stitches, but is not really suitable for beginners.
If you have any problems with the pattern, please pm me and I shall try to help.
