This is a beginner-friendly colorwork cowl. Knit in bulky weight yarn, it works up quickly so that you can get straight to the colorwork! While three colors are utilized in creating the cowl, only two colors are worked at a time. There are two options for this cowl. Option 1 has a slight bell shape created by changing needle sizes throughout the project. Option 2 is a standard shape cowl. Choose your three colors and see how they come together in this fun knit.

I named this cowl Viv after our niece. When you turn the cowl sideways, it makes a distinct “V” shape that instantly makes me think of her.

Construction: The cowl is worked circularly from the bottom up.
Option 1 has a subtle taper that is created by way of needle shaping; four needle sizes are used while knitting the cowl.

Yarn & Yardage
Weight: bulky
Amount:
MC: 132 yds / 120 m / 110 g
CC1: 22 yds / 20 m / 17 g
CC2: 15 yds / 14 m / 11 g

Option 1 Yarn Used: 1 skein of North Bay Fiber Elemental Bulky in Rock Bottom (MC), Float (CC1), and Chestnut (CC2) - 100% domestic Cormo wool (110 g = 132 yds / 120 m)

Option 2 Yarn Used: 1 skein of North Bay Fiber Elemental Bulky in Chestnut (MC), Rock Bottom (CC1), and Rock Float (CC2) - 100% domestic Cormo wool (110 g = 132 yds / 120 m)

Or, if substituting, bulky weight yarn in the following amounts:
MC: Approximately 160 yds / 146 m / 132 g
CC1: Approximately 30 yds / 38 m / 22 g
CC2: Approximately 20 yds / 18 m / 14 g
Note: North Bay Fiber recommends at least 20% more yarn due to Elemental Bulky’s springy nature
