This is such a cosy set for autumn (and winter!). The aran yarn adds a nice subtle bulk without being too heavy. The colours remind me of blue skies and woodland walks. There is a definite vintage quality to the shades I’ve chosen (I’m having visions of long flowing hair and bell bottoms!). The colour possibilities are endless too.

Once the scarf is made there is plenty of yarn left to choose which colours to make the mitts and hat (I made the scarf, hat and three pairs of mitts out of 6x100g balls of Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran in 5 different colours).

All three patterns here are rated Easy and the mitts pattern has a photo tutorial to help with any tricky bits.

Gauging is given for the mitts and hat but it’s not necessary for the scarf.
