Vintage 1940 Womens Scallop Front Cardigan
Woman’s Weekly first published the knitting pattern for this ladies’ cardigan with scallop detail in the 23 November 1940 issue.
The original instructions say; Knit it in a gay colour with dark border and buttons to match your skirt! Worked in a tension of 9 sts to the inch in width with No.10 pins, the measurements on the diagram are attained after light pressing.
Measurements:
Actual measurements 86cm/ 34in
Length to back neck 51cm/ 20in
Sleeve seam All sizes 47cm/ 18½in
Materials Needed:
9 ounces (255g) of Sirdar Super Shetland Wool 3 ply in the main color and 1 ounce (28g) of the same wool in a contrasting colour
A pair of each No. 10 and No.11 Aero knitting pins
14 Aero crochet hook
8 button-moulds
