One can never have enough garter stitch. In this swingy open cardigan, garter-stitch borders are knitted in as you go. The body has slight A-line shaping, and the extended shoulders are slanted with short rows and joined with wrong sides together using the 3-needle bind off. The back neck is narrow, so the cardi stays put, even without buttons. Sleeves are knitted from armhole to cuff, so make them as long or as short as you like. Cushy Cheviot yarn makes garter ridges pop and gives stockinette stitch a whole lot of character.
