Outside the window, the recently raked leaves swirl around in the chilly wind. After having just come indoors, I place myself in front of the tiled stove with an aromatic cup of tea. But I still feel frozen, especially about the exposed feet.
Then it’s extra cosy to put an extra layer of thick and cuddly wool socks on my feet.
YARN
Limmo Design tjocksock, 75% wool / 25% polyamide, 360m/150g
or Rauma Vandre 100% wool, 120m/50g
You can also use other durable sock yarn with a length of approximately 240m/100g.
Metreage: 230 (250) 280 (320) 360 m
Note that metreage can differ depending on the length of the foot.
GAUGE
24 sts and 34 rows = 10x10 cm in stocking stitch in the round after blocking.
When sample was knit, gauge was obtained on needles 4.0 mm. I am a tight knitter, so you might need to go down a needle size or two.
Normally I would recommend to knit a swatch to make sure your gauge is correct. When knitting socks, the toe can serve as a swatch, just be prepared that you might need to start the toe over again if your gauge is too much different from the pattern.
