VANILLA SWEATER V-NECK KNITTING PATTERN

Knitting pattern for the Vanilla Sweater V-neck.

One of our favorite patterns, the Vanilla Sweater, now also with a V-neck. The Vanilla V-neck is worked top-down. You start by casting on stitches at the neck and knitting back and forth while increasing on each side to shape the shoulders. When the back piece is completed, the front pieces are worked by picking up stitches from the back. The front and back are joined after completing the armholes. The sleeves are worked top-down by picking up stitches around the armhole on the body. The sweater has a slightly oversized fit.

Pictured is the sweater in size M in the colors “Merlot Please” and “Baby Pink” held together. Yarn kit with free pattern available here: Vanilla V-neck Sweater Kit

FIT

The sweater is designed to have a loose fit, approx. +20–30 cm of positive ease. This means you should choose a size that is 20–30 cm larger than your actual bust measurement (or the widest point of your upper body). You can also measure a sweater you already own and like the fit of. For example, if your bust is 94 cm, both size S (with 24 cm of ease) and size M (with 30 cm of ease) will fit well. Pictured is a model with a 92 cm bust wearing size M. Note – accurate measurements require correct gauge.

Adjustments: If you prefer a slimmer fit, you can go down a needle size while following the length instructions of a larger size. If the body width feels too wide in the smaller sizes, simply use a smaller needle size (6 mm or 6.5 mm) when knitting.

Gauge: 12.5 stitches x 20 rows on 7 mm needles = 10 x 10 cm.

Level: Easy / Intermediate

Recommended needles:
6 mm needles: long circular (60–80 cm) and short circular 40 cm
7 mm needles: long circular (60–80 cm) and short circular 40 cm
6 mm DPNs if not using the Magic Loop method
