Vagabond Hat is a comfortable, slouchy hat worked in an interesting zigzag pattern. It is knit in the round from the bottom up, the crown shaping is integrated into the stitch pattern.

Gauge
18 sts and 40 rounds = 10x10 cm/4”x4” in String Stitch Pattern knit in the round with needle A after blocking
(Base gauge: 18 sts and 27 rounds = 10x10 cm/4”x4” in Stockinette Stitch knit in the round with needle A after blocking)
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Finished Measurements
55.5 cm / 22” circumference at widest point, 23.5 cm / 9¼” height. Comfortably fit average adult head sizes (20-24”)

Needles
· needle A: 80 cm/32” circular needle or 40 cm/16” circular needle and double pointed needles (dpns) in size 4.5 mm/ US 7 (or size to obtain gauge)
· needle B: 80 cm/32” circular needle or 40 cm/16” circular needle and double pointed needles (dpns) in size 4.0 mm/ US 6 or two sizes smaller than needle A for the Ribbing
· needle C: 80 cm/32” circular needle or 40 cm/16” circular needle and double pointed needles (dpns) in size 3.5 mm/ US 4 or two sizes smaller than needle B for the Tubular Cast On (optional)

40 cm/16” circular needles and dpns are optional if you prefer the Magic Loop Method for working small circumferences in the round.
