UnderCoat is part of The UnderWhere Collection - accessories for cold weather performance and protection, worked in deeply insulating fibres with next-to-skin softness.

UnderCoat is a bandana-shaped cowl designed with warmth and function in mind. UnderCoat pulls up high enough to cover your nose if it’s nippy while the bandana point keeps chilly draughts from getting in the top of your coat’s zipper.

UnderCoat works up quickly in a small amount of yarn, making it a great unisex gift idea.

The bandana shaping is achieved by taking advantage of the natural differences in height between stockinette and garter fabrics, and then a small section of German Short Rows are used to shape the point.

Choose a double-knitting (DK) weight yarn that is soft for next-to-skin wear and is well insulating. Fibre blends containing wool with yak, buffalo, muskox are warmest. Cashmere is warm, but not as durable. Wool with some alpaca is warmer than wool alone and is more affordable than the more exotic fibres.

This pattern has been professionally tech edited and test knit.

The UnderWhere Collection offers three accessories at a price that is less than buying two patterns alone.
